The journey
MAJA MERCADO was born from the idea of Maxime and Jacobien in July 2022. These two young entrepreneurs, passionate about art and gastronomy, agreed to combine their talents to organize an intimate Sunday get-together in Amsterdam. After choosing a place known to be an artistic and cultural breeding ground, they offered the possibility to six young artisans to come and exhibit their creations.
Growing from humble beginnings, MAJA MERCADO now proudly hosts over 30 exhibitors at each event. From charming churches and the lush Vondelpark in Amsterdam, to the creative hub Yellow House, and all the way to Jardin 21 in Paris, our journey has been nothing short of remarkable. We’ve reached an impressive milestone with a record gathering of 3,000 attendees.
Maxime is co-founder of MAJA MERCADO. She works as a retail account manager in the Netherlands. She has a good sense of sales, aesthetics and has developed a real trend-watching quality. In addition to managing MAJA MERCADO, she is also responsible for the finances of the Dutch editions.
Jacobien, MAJA MERCADO’s multilingual co-founder, has her own event planning business and works remotely as a marketing specialist for several Dutch companies. She recently moved to Paris and is the creative soul of MAJA MERCADO.
